Management Information System (MIS)

MIS refers to a Computer Based Information System (CBIS) which meets the general information needs of managers of an organization or an enterprise. This CBIS comprises of 3 pillars:

1. Management: MIS helps in performing the following managerial functions:
• a. Planning
• b. Organizing
• c. Controlling
• d. Directing
• e. Staffing

2. Information: This refers to data which includes raw facts about object of interest.

3. System: It refers to set of inter-related components, which have well-defined boundaries and work together to attain a common objective.
